I found your work and your blog through ArtSlant and am enamoured with your work. I love the layering you achieve and while I deal with layering in some of the encaustics I have done, layering in paint has been more elusive to me. Do you mind me asking how you do it? Any advice would be greatly welcomed! I look forward to checking back frequently!

Thanks! I’m flattered that you like my work.
It’s tricky to get that depth that you can get with encaustics. A few years ago I was actually using glue as my layering medium. I really liked the effect, but it was tricky to work with and I wasn’t sure about the longevity of the medium. Currently I just use good ol’ acrylic medium, brushed on, layer after layer. Using the gloss medium keeps the layers crystal clear, if I want a cloudier look, I use the matte.
